Types of Data We Collect

Job Applications and Accounts

If you register, apply for a vacancy or advertise a job, we may collect your name, contact details, account information, CV, cover letter, qualifications, employment history, job preferences, application answers and relevant business or billing details.

We use this information to provide the services you request, administer accounts, handle applications, respond to enquiries and operate the job board. Our legal bases are performance of a contract where necessary, legitimate interests in operating and protecting our service and managing business relationships, legal obligations, and consent for optional subscriptions or tracking. We balance legitimate interests against your rights. Required form fields are identified; without them we may be unable to provide the requested feature.

When you apply, your application is shared with the employer or recruiter responsible for that vacancy. Employers and external application websites generally handle information under their own privacy notices. Deleting an account here does not automatically delete copies they hold. Candidate applications are not intended for public display; any optional wider profile visibility will be explained before you enable it.

Please avoid supplying unnecessary sensitive information. Where sensitive information is needed, we will identify an additional lawful condition and explain its use.

Information normally comes from you or your use of the website. Relevant information may also come from employers, authorised job feeds and our service providers. Where required, we explain the source and use of information obtained indirectly.

Website Cookies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to support login, security, preferences and, where enabled, analytics. Technical information can include IP addresses, browser and device details, pages visited and access times.

Third-party analytics services may help us understand visitor behaviour and improve the website. Optional analytics, advertising and social-media tracking require consent where applicable. These services may process online identifiers; such information is not necessarily anonymous.

You can manage optional choices through the website’s cookie controls, where provided. Further details of cookies actually used, their providers, purposes and durations should be available in the cookie notice or consent panel. Browser settings also allow you to manage cookies, although disabling essential cookies may affect functionality.

Mailing Lists

When you subscribe to newsletters or job alerts, we collect information such as your name, email address and selected interests. We use it to:

  • Send information and vacancies you have requested.
  • Manage subscriptions and communication preferences.
  • Respond to enquiries and keep our records accurate.
  • Improve the relevance of our communications.

We rely on your consent for optional subscriptions. Registering or applying for a job does not automatically sign you up for promotional newsletters.

We may use third-party email and mailing-list providers to deliver communications on our behalf. Where enabled and lawfully permitted, email statistics may include delivery, opens and clicks; we explain tracking and obtain consent where required.

We do not rent or trade email lists. Relevant sponsored content may appear in emails covered by your subscription, but sponsors do not receive the mailing list.

Unsubscribe at any time using the link in an email or by contacting Giles Sharman at support@farmingjobs.co.uk. Essential account, application or security messages may still be sent.

Payment Providers

Payments are handled by third-party payment providers. We may receive billing information, payment status and transaction references for administration and accounting. Payment providers process card or bank details under their own privacy arrangements. We do not need your full payment-card details to operate the job board.

Service Providers and International Transfers

We use service providers for the job-board platform, hosting, email, security, support and payments. Our platform provider is JBoard; information about its providers is available on its subprocessor page. Providers acting on our behalf are subject to appropriate data-processing and security obligations.

We may disclose necessary information to professional advisers, authorities where legally required, or a business successor, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Information may be processed outside the UK or European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where required, we use applicable adequacy decisions or approved safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses and UK transfer agreements or addenda. Contact us for details of relevant recipients, countries or safeguards.

How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information only as long as needed for the service, subscription, enquiry or transaction concerned, and any applicable legal obligations or disputes. We consider account activity, the purpose of collection, statutory recordkeeping and relevant claims periods when deciding retention. Subscription details are removed from active marketing lists when you unsubscribe, although minimal suppression and consent records may remain to respect your preferences and demonstrate compliance. Information no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.

Users Under 18

Our services are intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 for accounts, applications or subscriptions. If we discover such information, we take appropriate steps to restrict and delete it unless limited retention is legally necessary.

Users aged 16 or 17 may use the service, with appropriate privacy safeguards. Employers remain responsible for job-specific age restrictions and young-worker protections. Contact us if you believe an under-16 has provided personal information.

Access to Your Personal Information

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your information and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can object to direct marketing at any time and withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Rights may also apply to significant automated decisions.

Search and job-alert features may match your chosen criteria to vacancies; this does not decide whether an employer hires you. Any significant automated decision-making we introduce will be explained separately, together with applicable safeguards.

To exercise your rights, email Giles Sharman at support@farmingjobs.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity. Requests are normally free and answered within one month, subject to applicable legal exceptions and extensions.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, Ireland’s Data Protection Commission or another competent EEA supervisory authority where EU GDPR applies.

External Links

Our website includes links to employers, recruiters and other third-party websites. Their content and privacy practices are their responsibility. Read their privacy notices before providing personal information.

Data Security and Breaches

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, but no system can be guaranteed completely secure.

If a reportable personal-data breach occurs, we notify the relevant supervisory authority without undue delay and, where feasible, within 72 hours of becoming aware of it. Where a breach is likely to result in a high risk to affected individuals, we notify them without undue delay, as required by law.

Social Media Platforms

Communication and engagement through external social media platforms are subject to those platforms’ terms and privacy policies. We use information available to us to respond to messages and manage our pages. Public comments may be visible to others.

We may share public job advertisements through social media. We do not publish private candidate applications or contact details without a separate lawful basis and clear explanation. Please do not send sensitive information through public posts or comments.

Social sharing buttons let you share website content. The selected platform may receive technical information and record your activity under its own privacy policy. Optional advertising pixels or audience-sharing features require appropriate information and any necessary consent.

Changes to This Privacy Notice

We review this policy and update the date above when changes are made. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate, and fresh consent obtained where required.

For privacy enquiries, contact Giles Sharman, Sharman International Limited (trading as) FarmingJobs.co.uk, 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX, or email support@farmingjobs.co.uk.
